Blackhills Clinic Dental Symposium
“What we can do together”
Paul Stone and Ken Watkins, Clinical Directors of Blackhills Clinic were delighted to welcome over 180 delegates to the first Blackhills Dental Symposium on Tuesday 27 November 2012. The facilities and arrangements provided by Perth Racecourse were excellent and this proved to be a great opportunity for GDPs and DCPs to gain some free CPD. The programme was designed to be relevant for all members of the dental team (clinicians, PCDs and management/clerical staff) and with a keynote presentation by Ashley Latter. Look out for details of next year's symposium on our website.
The event started at 1.00p.m. to give delegates time to browse the 20 trade stands and take the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and friends before the meeting started.
The aim of the symposium was to bring different members of the dental team together and to present a number of clinical and communication issues with relevance for all team members.
The learning objectives were different for each member of the dental team, but for all, the intention was to broaden awareness of treatment planning, fixed and removable prosthodontics, periodontology and endodontics. At the end of the symposium it was anticipated that both clinical and non-clinical staff would have a greater understanding of some of the major patient treatment issues as well as their roles in ensuring better communication between staff and patients. The meeting
