What is Dental Implant Placement?
An implant is an artificial tooth root which is inserted into the jaw, allowed to heal and then restored with a range of different dental restorations, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Implants are used to replace missing teeth, providing a durable and long-lasting solution that mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth.

The Treatment Process
Consultation & Assessment
During your initial consultation, our dentisit will exam your teeth and gums, using X-rays or 3D scans to check bone density. If they find there is not enough bone density, bone grafting may be needed as your jawbone must be strong enough to support the implant.
Implant Placement
Local anesthesia is given prior to treatment beginning. The dentist will begin the treatment by making a small incision in the gum to gain access to the jaw. A titanium implant post is then inserted into the jawbone. A few stitches are then placed to close the site and a small protective cap covers the implant during the healing phase.
Healing Period
After a week or two, the stitches are removed. Careful oral hygiene and cleaning around the implant is now vital for successful healing.
It usually takes between 6 weeks and a few months for the bone to become securely attached to the implant. Each case is different, and this healing period is always longer where bone grafting is required.
