What are Dentures?
Dentures are removable false teeth that are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures can be either full or partial, replacing all the missing teeth in one jaw or just some of the missing teeth. They are made from acrylic resin or metal frameworks, and designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Dentures Treatment Process
Consultation and Examination
During your first visit our dentist will carry out an examination of your mouth by taking X-rays. This will allow them to examine your oral health and decide whether you need full or partial dentures.
Impressions and Wax Blocks
Impressions, or moulds, of your teeth are taken in order to create the denture. These impressions are sent to a trusted dental laboratory for them to manufacture a denture that fits your gums properly.
Wax blocks will also be used to record the way you bit together, which is important for creating your denture. The colour and appearance of the denture will also be discussed and selected with you at this appointment.
Denture Try-On
You will then try on a denture for size and if happy the denture can be sent away to be processed and completed. If not, changes can be easily made at this stage, but this will require an extra appointment for a retry. It may take several visits to get appearance, fit and function correct.
Final Denture Fitting
Once your final denture has been created, your finished denture will be fitted. Your dentist will adjust them until they feel comfortable and provide you with instructions on wearing and cleaning your denture.
Review Appointment
A review appointment is required approximately 2 weeks after your final fitting to check the denture and make any adjustments if needed.
