Biopsy

A biopsy is a small surgical procedure involving the removal of a tiny sample of cells or tissues for examination and report. The tissue is examined closely under a microscope to determine whether it is abnormal.  This is carried out in the pathology department at Nuffield Health in Glasgow, who we have worked with for many years. 

We will inform your dentist or doctor of the result, if required.

Appointments:

• Surgical procedure under local anaesthic to take a sample of the affected area.  Stitches are often placed afterwards to help healing
• Stitch removal
• Contact from Blackhills Specialist Clinic when the report is received from Nuffield Health.
